Have You Ever Judged a Book Solely By Its Cover?

There's a book in my "to read" pile that's been there for years. One day, I'll probably read it. If I do, I'm confident it will be worthwhile. However, the cover is so gloomy that it puts me off. Even though I trust the author and believe the book will be rewarding, I choose other books whose covers beckon me to open their pages.
Book covers are important if you want readers. However, they may not adequately reflect the contents.
In my life, I've often assessed and categorized people based on their physical appearance. Whether they are short or tall, overweight or thin, messy or neatly dressed, wealthy or not, attractive or ordinary. However, unlike book covers, every person I encounter possesses a remarkable inner self. Each has unique stories, backgrounds, and experiences that make them interesting, regardless of how they dress or look. And to top it off, everyone I meet is made in God's image and is worthy of my respect.
So, even though I will continue to judge a book by its cover, I am learning to look at people with new eyes - eyes that see them as unique, interesting stories I have not yet heard. As I learn their names and listen to their stories, I get a glimpse of the amazing author of life who brought them into this world for a unique plan and purpose, whether or not they know or acknowledge it.
So here is the book cover on my upcoming book. What do you think it might be about?
