Enough!

A distressed parent barks the word at a whining child. A praying young adult shakes a fist at God, yelling the same word. A tired hiker thinks the word, desperate to reach the peak and rest.
"Enough!" is my word for the year, but not because I'm distressed, angry, or tired. Instead, I chose it because the year looms large with uncertainty. Every year does, but this year, I'm more aware of how little control I have. I may plan, but God directs my steps. (Proverbs 16:9)
"Enough!" declares that God is more powerful than any disaster I can imagine. He reigns supreme over every tiny ant as it carries out its work to the massive universe I cannot understand. He is enough for every single day and all situations, small and large. When I finish my time with God in the morning, I declare, "You are enough for ____________." When a shadow lurks over my plans for the week, I remember God is more than enough to deal with it.
To embellish my theme for this year, I am choosing songs and hymns that remind me that He is enough. I play my "Enough" list on Sunday mornings (and sometimes on other mornings as well). The music prepares my heart for worship. By the end of the year, I will have learned some new songs.
So what about you? Do you have a word or a theme for this year? How are you asking God to meet you this year?

Not necessarily my word for the year, but my focus (I hope) will be PEACE for the same reasons as you chose! Good encouraging thoughts; thanks Joan.
